Setting Up WAHA (QR Code)
WAHA is the fastest way to connect your WhatsApp number to Remo. The entire process takes just a few minutes.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- The WhatsApp app installed on a smartphone
- The phone number you want to use for the bot active and logged in on that phone
- Internet access on both the phone and the computer you're using to set up the dashboard
The phone number you connect will be managed by the Remo bot. While the bot is active, avoid using WhatsApp Web on another browser with the same number, as this may cause the session to disconnect.
Step-by-Step Setup
Step 1 — Open the WAHA Section
From your Remo dashboard, navigate to the WAHA section in the left sidebar of your project. You'll see a connection status panel showing whether the bot is currently connected or not.
Step 2 — Start the Session
Click the Connect or Start Session button. A QR code will appear on screen. This QR code is valid for approximately 60 seconds. If it expires before you scan it, simply click to generate a new one.
Step 3 — Scan With WhatsApp
On your smartphone:
- Open WhatsApp
- Tap the three dots menu (Android) or go to Settings (iPhone)
- Select Linked Devices
- Tap Link a Device
- Point your phone's camera at the QR code displayed on your screen
Step 4 — Confirm the Connection
Once scanned successfully, the dashboard status will update to Connected. The bot is now live and will begin responding to incoming messages automatically.
Keeping the Session Active
The WAHA connection relies on your phone staying connected to the internet. To prevent session interruptions:
- Keep the phone plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi
- Do not uninstall or log out of WhatsApp on that device
- Avoid having too many linked devices on the same number (WhatsApp allows up to 4 linked devices total)
What Happens If the Session Disconnects?
If the session expires (for example, if the phone loses internet for an extended period), the bot will stop responding. The dashboard will show a Disconnected status.
To reconnect:
- Go to the WAHA section in your dashboard
- Click Reconnect
- Scan the new QR code with your phone
Ask your Remo account manager about enabling connection status alerts so you're notified immediately if the bot disconnects.
Best Practices
| Recommendation | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Use a dedicated phone for the bot number | Prevents accidental logouts or conflicts |
| Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network | Reduces the chance of session drops |
| Avoid manually using the number during bot operation | Prevents message conflicts between bot and human |
| Keep the phone charged and plugged in | Session drops if the phone dies |
